The 1940 Coachcraft Roadster is considered an automotive design and concept milestone. It accurately predicted in size, shape and stance sports cars of the 1950’s and early 60’s such as the Porsche 356, XK120, A.C. and MG cars. It also foreshadowed Carroll Shelby’s concept of dropping a performance Ford V-8 in a light sports car body by two decades.

Strother MacMinn called this automobile the “first American custom sports car."
